HRMC CIS Helpline: 0300 200 3210

WARNING Don’t be fooled by all cash offers to join some CIS tax firms. What they give you with one hand they will rob you blind when it comes to their deduction for fees. Some tax firms will also take a percentage of your CIS rebate. This can add up.

I’m interested in philantropy and charitable causes and I morally wish to help the environment and the needy. Anyone who you recommend to us and who we engage with then we’ll give you £30 and we’ll make donations to charities. See our referral page for details.

A lot of construction workers back in the day did not pay enough tax and did more cash in hand work. HMRC decided to stop this by the getting the contractor to tax the subbie at source at 20% leaving the subbie to sort out their own tax rebate claim at the end of the year end 05 APR.

You register with HMRC for CIS. They give you a UTR number (10 digit code). You then use this to get taxed at 20%. Before you get this code you will be taxed at 30%. You give us the code so will can act for you as an agent to complete your tax return at year end 05 APR.

If you work in the construction industry and you are a subcontractor or self-employed then yes.

If you are employed and pay PAYE which means you get taxed and pay National Insurance deducted every payday then you are not.

Give us your name, address, National Insurance number and some details about your business. We can do this online for you over the phone.

A submission to HMRC of your earnings and expenses to calculate how much tax and NI you owe. If you have been deducted CIS then you may receive a rebate instead. The tax year runs from 06 APR to 05 APR and your submission must be sent to HMRC by 31 JAN the following year.

Call HMRC 0300 200 3210

As self-employed you are not entitled to any of these.

If you claim these then get your self-assessment done after 06 APR and before 30 JUN so you can tell the Working Tax Credits what your income for the year is.

We submit your self-assessment to HMRC. They pay your refund within 7-10 working days into our Accountandsee Ltd client bank account. We transfer your refund minus our fee £200 into your account.

HMRC is clamping down on sub-contractors who work for one contractor and who are to all intents and purposes employed. We can advise both contractors and sub-contractors on this and look at your payscales and benefits either.

Chris Usher - QuadConsult Ltd

I had been with my older accountant for many years but, due to illness he had to retire. Richard then took over and I am very happy. He is easy to talk to and very efficient. When I ring if he’s not available to gets back to me within the day. I would certainly advise anyone to engage his services. I am more then happy. He has stepped into my old accountant’s shoes. I wish him all the best and keep doing my accounts as you are. Good luck in starting your new premises.
